Sunday Breakfast at The Way Station........

The byrdie family had a lovely little Sunday.  A little shopping and the best breakfast at a coffee shop here called The Way Station.  The Way Station has been open for over 40 years..... the inside decor is nostalgic and kitschy, the coffee is superb and the food is fantastic!  If you have a chance.. you have to stop by, but be prepared to wait a while for a seat because the place is always packed..

Waffles with Whip-cream and Strawberries.....

Daddy Byrds Country fried Steak and eggs....

A shot of Mama Byrds hash browns.... what the weigh station is best known for.  Haylei got the Thursday Breakfast and Sumo got the French Toast.  Baby byrd had a little bit of each.......

Friday With The Byrds......

Having a lovely little Friday..... I hope all of you are too.  After picking up the girlie byrds from school, the mama went to have the car washed.  While the car was being washed..... we went and had a bite to eat at Valencia Hot Dog Co.  The little byrds had hot dogs while the mama had the veggie sandwich..... yum.

Next the mama had a suprise for the kiddos. The girlie byrds love to watch Food Networks Cupcake Wars.  Have you ever watched?  Well one of our local bakeries..... Bake You Happy competed a while back and won!  So the mama took the kiddos to each pick any cupcake they wanted......

Haylei chose a red velvet cupcake, Sumarah chose a chocolate cupcake with mint frosting... and the mama and baby byrd split the rhubarb cupcake, which was a vanilla bean cupcake with a graham cracker bottom, rhubarb cream filled center and strawberry frosting on top.... basically it was heaven.

Finally...... we stopped on the way home to pick up a few movies to watch.  The girlies chose the first Harry Potter.... we just started the book series, so they were anxious to watch this one.  Now the baby byrd is down for the night... and the girlie byrds are enjoying there movie with a nest of blankets, pillows and snacks.

Hope you have a great Friday night!!!!

XOXO

Taking a moment.........

Just a little note before I nod off in bed.......  I have the best job in the world.  I am the mama to these three beautiful little byrdies.  Though chaotic at times....... they make life so sweet.  Take a moment amid all the busy hustle and bustle and give your kiddos two extra kisses tomorrow...... I know I will.

Goodnight..........

Swoon.... Vintage Stoves

I am so smitten with vintage stoves.  My nanny (what I call my grandma) had her original stove from the 1950's up until she moved just a few years back.  I kick myself that I didn't take it when she moved.  She just got rid of it when she moved across the country.  How I wish I had it......

It's my life long dream to have a vintage stove.... I wouldn't mind a vintage fridge either!  Of course that would have to wait until the kiddos are much older....

Just a lovely little Sunday.....

Started working on one of my new year goals today.  I wanted to make Sunday's our official Family Day.  Each Sunday I want to take the time to enjoy each others company... no house cleaning, laundry or errand running.  Today was quite lovely.  The morning began with all of the birdie family (even daddy bird) sitting down to a breakfast of fresh fruit, fresh baked cinnamon rolls and pipping hot cups of coffee.  No t.v, no computers or video games... just squeals of laughter and good conversation.  Next we snuggled together and watched Seabiscuit.  The mama bird set out a buffet style lunch of finger sandwiches, cheese and crackers and veggies with dip.  after that the girlie birds drew pictures and colored while the baby bird took a nap.  The mama bird got the daddy bird to help her in the kitchen..... making homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs.  After we got the sauce on and the meatballs simmering.... we sat down to movie #2  The Green Hornet.  After the movie it was family board games.... operation followed by guess who?  The mama bird and daddy bird got quite competitive on that one!  Finally it was dinner.... baths, a little playtime with the baby bird before his bed time.  Once the baby bird was in bed... we watched one more movie together before the girlie birds turned in for the night (Thor if you must know... lol).  It was so nice just enjoying the time together.  Yes the laundry is waiting for me.... and the dishwasher needs to be unloaded... but they will be there tomorrow.  The pile up is so worth it for the kind of day we had today.

Days of Fall........

So while it is officially Fall....here in California it is still hot and sunny.  I do sometimes wish I lived in a state where we experienced all four seasons.  Fall happens to be my favorite season.  I love a hot cup of coffee, a nice comfy over sized sweater and a big pot of soup cooking on the stove.    Here are a few things I am loving right now that make me giddy for this season:

Inside Out Caramel Apples

Roasted Potato Stacks

Baked Potato Soup With Bacon, Onion & Cheddar

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing

Happy Anniversary.....

9 years ago I met this boy.... he was tall and thin. He wore oversized button downs, baggy pants and he always had on a baseball cap. He was quiet and shy, intelligent and loyal. 8 years ago that boy, he married this girl. They have had good times and hard times. They have swam with sting rays in Jamaica, eaten little tacos on a side street in Cozumel and been down in the pits at the Daytona 500.  They have cried on eachothers shoulders when they have each experienced loss, layed together in bed listening to thunderstorms while making future plans and stayed up late on many nights trying to figure out how they were gonna pay all the bills.  They brought three perfect little beings into this earth, each half of them both.  They have laughed, loved, cried and felt joy but always with eachother.  Well that girl (me) and that boy (my wonderful husband) We have been married for 8 years today.  I love you so much Chris.....  more than words could ever say.  Happy Anniversary.
